(At approximately 9:45 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2001, several VDOT employees at VDOT's Smart Traffic Center on Columbia Pike adjacent to the Pentagon witnessed the hijacked aircraft pass immediately above their building heading towards the Pentagon at full speed. Within a few seconds, the thundering noise of the overhead jet was followed by the sounds of explosions at the Pentagon.
